Cecilie (44) is mother to three. She has metastatic breast cancer that has spread to her liver, back, pelvis and neck – a terminal diagnosis. Soon, all that will be left of her are the memories. Her children that survived her. Her story about a fight against metastatic breast cancer she didn’t win.We made sure that Cecilie and all the other metastatic breast cancer patients will never be forgotten. In front of the Norwegian parliament building, we erected the first ever statue of a person that is about to die. The first ever statue of a person with one breast. The first ever statue of a woman with metastatic breast cancer. A statue that makes an invisible group of people impossible to forget about. A statue that reminds everyone that the battle against breast cancer isn’t won.A bronze statue made by Håkon Anton Fagerås, one of our times foremost figurative sculptors.
