As Manager, National Media with Coca-Cola, John helped elevate media into a fully integrated
and key component of Coke?s overall marketing plans. He thinks beyond traditional media
strategies to lead his team in developing innovative, targeted programs that leverage media,
media merchandising, sponsorships and promotions that deliver against marketing and business
objectives. On the agency side of the business, John recently honed those skills as EVP, Chief
Media Officer for Universal McCann?s Atlanta operation, participating in its Media Directors
Panel for U.S. operations focused on non-traditional media, training, research and return on
investment analytics. At Coca-Cola, John directed the national agency of record in strategic
planning, implementation, negotiation and stewardship of more than $250 million annually on
behalf of 15 brands of The Coca-Cola Company and Minute Maid. He provided media insight,
direction and support to Coca-Cola brand management, promotions, advertising, sports
marketing and ethnic affairs. John facilitated development of national television promotions
and programming sponsorship linked to brand objectives and strategies, including media
partnerships with major sports properties: the Olympic Games, NASCAR, FIFA World Cup,
NFL, NBA, NHL and MLB. His role included maintaining and enhancing relationships for the
company with network sales, marketing and programming representatives, including those
at CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox and the WB, as well as cable networks like MTV and ESPN. Across
his 10+ years at Coke, John worked with bottlers in every domestic market, and served as a
presenter and facilitator at three worldwide media summits ? sharing best practices globally
for one of the world?s leading marketing companies. In addition to his work on numerous
beverage brands, John has led national media planning efforts for AFLAC, Southern Company,
