Featured in the Cannes New Directors Showcase, the Creative Futures Awards and the winner of the SHOTS New Director Award, Woof Wan-Bau continues to develop his reputation as an innovative film maker, and one of Britain’s brightest talents.
After graduating from Goldsmiths College in London, Wan-Bau went on to direct a music video for ‘My Angel Rocks Back and Forth’, for Four Tet. This led to a Young Guns Award for Best Animated music video and the Public Choice Award at the British Animation Awards. He has since worked with the likes of Coldcut, Mogwai, Matthew Herbert, The Duke Spirit and Calvin Harris.
His commercial for Nomis, ‘Damn Boots’ won a host of awards, including two Gold Lions at Cannes, Two Gold Clios and a Gold at the Epica Awards. Other commercial work includes projects for VW, Nickelodeon, BBC and Hornbach which was recognised as a TED ‘Ad Worth Spreading’.
Woof Wan-Bau has also directed a number of highly acclaimed award winning short films, including the internationally distributed Channel 4 short film ‘Watermelon Love’, the experimental live action short ‘From Nose to Mouth’ for Animate Projects and Channel 4, and most recently ‘First Place’, which was commissioned as part of the Festival de Mexico en el Centro Historico.
