Brief | A single cigarette butt can pollute up to 500 litres of water. Every year, billions of cigarette butts end up in the ocean: an ecological disaster comparable to an oil spill. On World Oceans Day, Sea Shepherd launched an awareness campaign called "The White Tide". In parallel with the outdoor campaign, a huge cigarette butt collection operation took place across French beaches. Then #FillTheBottle convinced thousands of citizens across the world to clean beaches by filling up bottles with cigarette butts. |
