Musician turned marketer, still a great performer. Originally on track to become a violinist, Eric L Hu spent a decade cultivating the ability to sell antiquated art to a young audience. He has since translated that skill to strategy, or the application of behavioral science at the intersection of culture and commerce.
Hu began his career accelerating startups; after building two ventures later acquired by Vimeo and Capital One, he has gone on to freelance at Deloitte Digital, R/GA, and Code & Theory. Recognized by CNBC, The Wall Street Journal, and Business Insider for his entrepreneurial approach, Eric continues to collaborate with brands like Land Rover, Adidas, and Capital One, and holds the record as youngest Mercedes-Benz brand ambassador. In 2018 he was awarded a partnership with Leica, and was later invited to present his work at the EyeEm Photography Festival in Berlin.
His process, described by the former CEO of J. Walter Thompson as "dynamic, smart, and optimistic," combines lateral thinking with a passion for creative technology and new media to tackle global business challenges. Most recently, he has led research teams in fashion and athletics, pioneering one of TIME’s best inventions of 2019.
Today, he heads up the customer experience group at Havas, bringing his expertise in digital transformation to the healthcare industry. Hu continues to spend his time exploring design ethics, the future of mobility, and the beautiful world of classical music.
