Marlon Koster Interview(s)

What motivates you to be part of the PHNX Jury, and what do you hope to bring to the judging process?
I’ve always believed that great creativity comes from bold ideas and fresh perspectives—the kind of work that makes you feel something, think differently, or simply wish you’d come up with it yourself. Being part of the PHNX Jury is a chance to celebrate that kind of work, to be inspired by the best ideas from around the world, and to exchange thoughts with other passionate creatives. I hope to bring a sharp eye for originality, craft, and storytelling, but more than anything, I want to help champion ideas that push our industry forward and remind us why we fell in love with creativity in the first place.
PHNX has always been about celebrating creativity in all its forms. What new perspectives or disciplines do you think deserve more recognition in award shows today?
The most exciting creativity is the kind that defies expectations—the kind the world has hardly seen before. I’d love to see more recognition for unconventional thinking, for ideas that take a sharp left when everyone expects a right. The work that truly stands out isn’t just different for the sake of it; it surprises, challenges, and makes an impact in ways we never saw coming. Technology can be a great enabler, but real game-changing creativity comes from bold, strategic ideas that rewrite the rules and redefine how we connect with people. That’s the kind of work that deserves to be celebrated.
Which countries or regions do you think are leading the creative field right now? And which emerging markets should we look out for?
Great ideas can come from anywhere, and what’s most exciting now is seeing new voices and fresh perspectives rewriting the creative playbook.
What trends or cultural shifts do you think will define the most impactful creative work this year?
I’m excited to judge the work at this year’s PHNX Awards with no expectations—just an open mind and a love for bold, unconventional creativity. Looking forward to being surprised!
If you could give one piece of advice to agencies and creatives submitting their work, what would it be?
The work you put out isn’t just about today; it’s what will inspire the next wave of creativity around the world.
Which creative minds are inspiring you the most right now?
Everyone with a wonderful idea.
