Masego is Managing Director of M&C Saatchi Abel, Johannesburg, where she leads a team of 130 staff members, overseeing the strategic direction of the agency and driving a P&L of over R150 million.
As a passionate leader with over 20 years of experience in marketing and advertising, Masego brings a strong background in account management, brand development, and management, with a notable focus on challenger brands across diverse industries including telecommunications, financial services, food and beverage, fashion, infrastructure development, and nation branding.
Masego is a dynamic leader known for building and retaining highly motivated teams and delivering results through creative business solutions. Under her leadership, one of her key mandates is to foster innovation and elevate the creative output of the agency — a skill she displayed in her previous role as Managing Director of the award-winning agency, Grid Worldwide, where she played a pivotal role in extending the agency’s business reach into activations, a critical sector for engaging brands with consumers in an increasingly distracted world.
As an active voice in the marketing and advertising industry, Masego contributes to various industry bodies such as the Association of Communication and Advertising (ACA) and the Brand Council. She has also served as a judge for the inaugural Effies Awards in South Africa and The Future is Female Awards delivered by Advertising Week Africa. Her advocacy for diversity and inclusion, particularly for women and youth, remains a key focus in her personal and professional life, driving her involvement with non-profit organisations such as United Ways and the LBOC Fund.
In addition to her leadership roles at M&C Saatchi Abel and Grid Worldwide, Masego was Managing Director of 99c Johannesburg. She also led business units across multiple industries, including nation branding, telecommunications, infrastructure development, food and beverage, and financial services. Additionally, Masego has experience in senior roles at Zamtel, Zambia’s National Telecommunications Company, where she launched impactful programs that increased subscriber numbers significantly.
Masego’s accomplishments include strategising successful campaigns for major brands such as Standard Bank, Nando’s, Pepsi, and Lexus. She played a key role in repositioning Zamtel through the ChaLiLa youth program, relaunching Castle Milk Stout in 2009, and contributing to the MTN rebrand in 2021/2022. Notably, she wrote the official strategy for Brand South Africa for the 2015 World Economic Forum in Davos.
