With over a decade in advertising and half a decade in FMCG marketing, Positha Perera has built a career centered on creating, shaping, and elevating brands. His expertise in brand strategy, communications, and consumer engagement has allowed him to craft compelling narratives that drive brand equity and long-term loyalty. Having worked on both agency and client sides, he brings a well-rounded perspective that blends creativity with commercial strategy, ensuring brands not only capture attention but also leave a lasting impact.
Positha’s journey began in advertising, where he spent over ten years working with two of the world’s most renowned agencies, Ogilvy and Leo Burnett Sri Lanka. As a Brand Director, he played a key role in leading strategic brand transformations and developing groundbreaking campaigns for some of the most recognized global and local brands, including Coca-Cola, Perfetti Van Melle, Heineken, the International Cricket Council, Sri Lanka Telecom, Dialog Axiata, Ceylinco Insurance, CDB Finance, Commercial Bank Sri Lanka, and many more local clients across diverse industries. His deep understanding of consumer behavior and ability to create culturally resonant storytelling enabled these brands to carve out strong identities in highly competitive markets.
Transitioning from agency life to the FMCG sector, Positha took on the challenge of driving brand strategy and corporate communications from within. He currently serves as the Group Head of Corporate Communications at Maliban Biscuit Manufactories (Pvt) Ltd, one of Sri Lanka’s largest and most respected consumer goods companies. In this role, he is responsible for shaping Maliban’s corporate narrative, strengthening brand equity, and leading strategic communications that connect deeply with consumers. His expertise extends beyond traditional marketing, as he pioneers integrated campaigns, innovative media strategies, consumer activations, and strategic partnerships that keep Maliban relevant in an evolving marketplace.
